TU304 - Learning Trends, Disrupters, and Hype in 2018

Tue, May 08 | 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM | Room: Ballroom 20A

Learning continues to change as learners and technology evolve. But how do we know what is real, what is exaggeration, and what could actually benefit readiness and productivity in the workplace? In this session, you'll explore how learning professionals can tell the difference between helpful innovation and hype. You'll discover workplace trends for video segments, machine learning, performance support, voice-based coaching, chat bots, stretch assignments, virtual and augmented media, deep engagement, simulation, and gamification. In addition, you'll explore the hype---looking at the evidence for the ups and downs of learning changes and innovations in the workplace setting. Finally, the speaker (who is also a Broadway producer) will challenge you to add the power of the arts and storytelling to your learning offerings.

Application on the Job:
Align current and rising learning trends with your organization's learning strategies.
Separate learning innovation from hype using personal learning experience and an evidence-based mindset.
